Hello,For a couple of weeks now, I've been wondering what is the best way to get success in the blogging business. And while I was reading a book a few days back, it hit me:"Don't try to reinvent the wheel dumbo"

This started my quest on finding out what the top bloggers in our industry are doing. I mean, they are making $100,000+ per month so it makes sense for me to spend some time trying tounderstandwhat they are doing and how they are doing it.Also, to try and figure out why and how they are so freakin' successful. So I figured, why not share it with my tribe too.

This will help a ton of people who want to be successful online....Over the next few weeks, I will reverse engineer the basics of the most influential blogs and website and share it with you.

    1. This week we study John Chow

I have reverse engineered & Anayzed3 of the main components any blog has, namely:[*]Content[*]Traffic & Social Media[*]MonetizationIt took a lot of time to figure out what to cover and what to leave out & I am pretty sure there are a lot of things that I might have missed out on, if you think I missed something important, please leave a comment below and let me know.

I plan to do this for at least 10-15 different websites so it will help me get better and inturn help a lot of new comers in the market.Without Further delay, let's get to it:

    2. 10,000 feet view:

    • JohnChow [dot] com[/url] is a14 year old domain name.
    • It took the shape of a 'Make Money Online/Home Biz' blog around 2005-06.
    • There are over 3,128blog posts and growing.
    • Global Alexa Rank =17,341
    • Top 5 Traffic Geo-Location =
      • 26.1% = India
      • 13.5% = United States
      • 5.4% = Brazil
      • 4.9% = Canada
      • 3.5% = United Kingdom

    3. Content Analyis

JohnChow[dot]com[/url] has been an internet marketing blog from 2005-06 and therefore there are a ton of posts on the blog.Another thing that I really love about John Chow is that he has been super consistent!...and I mean 'SUPER' consistent withpublishing good posts year after year for almost 10 years now.

    3.1 Number of Articles:

John chow has over 3,128 articles at the time of writing this post. Here's how many articles he has posted year after year. This took a little work but you know I'd do anything for my tribe :)
    • 2015 = 19 Blog Posts and Growing
    • 2014 = 375Blog Posts
    • 2013 = 341Blog Posts
    • 2012 = 421Blog Posts
    • 2011 = 428Blog Posts
    • 2010 = 331Blog Posts
    • 2009 = 323Blog Posts
    • 2008 = 327Blog Posts
    • 2007 = 385Blog Posts
    • 2006 = 172Blog Posts
    • 2005 = 6Blog Posts
See, how his number has been around 1 blog post per day in 2007-2010? and then it grew to around 1.2 blog posts per day? That tells usthat consistency is the key to his success.

    3.2 Content Posting Frequency:

In 2006 it was around 1 article every 2 days but from then on, I am assuming John saw some good results and therefore started investing more time into blogging. The result?Approximately 1 blog post per day from 2007-2014.How long does it taketo write a blog post? Is it worth $100,000 per month to you?If the answer is Yes, Start blogging! The posting frequency has been more or less the same - 1 blog post per day and you're good to go.The key is consistency, even Neil Patel from QuickSprout comsuggests that the most important thing in blogging is CONSISTENCY!

    3.3 Average Number of Comments:

I studied how many comments each blog post on his blog was getting to get an idea of the engagement that he has with his visitors. His blog posts usually get around 20-25 comments per blog post, which is not bad at all.......blog comments show that the users engage with the blogger. Also, John replies to the comments himself so that shows that he really cares about his visitors.

    3.4 Time on Website:

The average time spent on JohnChow[dot]com is 2Minutes41 Seconds. Now, this may vary a little because I cannot access his Google Analytics dashboard but I am using some of the best tools available in the world right now to get this data so it should be pretty accurate.Time on website, again, shows engagement. Think of a blog as a TV show, if it weren't interesting people would switch to another website/blog.Since his blog posts are also not very lengthy (except a few), I am assuming with the average time on website being 2Minutes41 Seconds, the user must be reading atleast 1/2 of the post if not the entire thing.... orskimming through the entire post.

    3.5 Bounce Rate:

This is one metric that decides search engine rankings and again is an indicator of the engagement level of the users with the website. John Chow's bounce rate is 55.80% , which is average.....not bad, but not great either!

    3.6 Social Sharing:

I went through 10 of his latest blog posts and found out that on an average, his blog posts gets:
    • 22Facebook Likes/Shares.
    • 82 Tweets.
I truly believe the best websites in the world are those who get engagement from the audience and these social metric indicate that.ENGAGEMENT = MONEY!!!

3.7 Length of Articles & Images Per Blog Post:

The average length of articles on JohnChow[dot]com is around 700-800 words and they usually have around 2-4images. His main blog post page also has an image ad and I've excluded that in this calculation:[IMG]

    • All in all, I truly believe that John has his content strategy nailed.
    • Consistent blog post publishing & Engaging Content.

    4. Traffic & Social Media Analysis:

    • It has the highest readership in India & it's Alexa there is 6,307. Considering the fact that we are 1.2 BILLION, it is no surprise :p

    • His Youtube has seen over 5,826,749 views since March, 2006 which is when the channel was setup.

    • His Facebook Page[/b][/url]has almost 19,000 likes and growing.
    • He posts 1 link per day on this FB page that leads to his Blog page so it's like a cycle that he has going.
      • From the blog he gets people to like his facebook page.
      • On the Facebook page he posts his articles.
      • As a result it ends up on the newsfeed of people who have liked his FB Page.
      • They find the article on their newsfeed and some clickthrough to the blog page.

    • He has a very good readership & he utilises social media & engagement platforms well:

    5. Monetization:

John Chow has a great monetization model that produces MASSIVE PASSIVE income and a consistent one at that.
    • He sells 5 types of ads on his website.
      • Stripe Ad
      • 72890 Premium Ad Sponsorship
      • 300250 Embedded Ad Sponsorship
      • 125125 Button Sponsorship
      • Feature Site Sponsorship.
    • All this makes him around $12,500 just from the ads running on his website.
    • Then has Clickbank product launches that did really well and probably are bringing in sales as I write this blog post.
      • IM With JohnChow is still selling at a $1 Trial & $47 monthly rebill.
      • Blogging with John Chow which is $37 on Clickbank.
    • He has a list building webform on the right hand sidebar of his blog where he gathers name and email addresses of highly targeted "Make Money Online/Home Biz interested audience" and then markets his own products and affiliate products to.
    This is How His WebformLooks:[IMG]
    • Uses Aweber for sending out the emails.
    • He is a top gun for a product called M.O.B.E and has made a ton of money with it. I've received a lot of emails from him for promotion of M.O.B.E & I have also seen him promote it aggresively on his own blog. Here's a pic of John with a check from M.O.B.E:

    • He has 3 Books available on Amazon.comthat are also making him money:
      • Blogging Secrets: An Uncommon Guide to Generating Six Figures
      • Escaping the 9-5 and Living the Dot Com Lifestyle
      • Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul Paperback
    • There is no way to estimate his affiliate income since that is something that only he has access to.
    • He also speaks at marketing conferences and that too, is an income that I cannot estimate, but I know it exists.
    • Also, I am assuming, someone as successful as him, gets consultation calls from top businesses in the online marketing and technology space which would also makes him money.
It is safe to assume that [symple_highlight color="yellow"]John Chow makes more than $100,000 every single freakin' month[/symple_highlight]because he is just that good :)
    6. Major Bummer - JohnChow[dot]com

I don't really know why BUT JohnChow[dot]com looks hideous on the mobile device. I thought it was just me so I had another friend check it out - STILL UGLY.I was very surprised since a ton of traffic is mobile and the percentage is only going to grow in the coming years. The website isn't optimized for mobile devices.I checked it using Google Tool and here are the results:

    7. Conclusion:

    • JohnChow[dot]com's secret to success is consistent blog publishing for almost 9 years.
    • Highest readership in India.
    • John has maintained blog engagement for over 9 years & therefore he gets major dough.
    • List building is a major key to his success.
    • Monetization includes:
      • Affiliate marketing
      • Product Launches
      • Co-Authoring and Authoring Books & Selling on Amazon.com
      • Selling Ad space on JohnChow[dot]com
      • Top Affiliate for M.O.B.E
      • Speaking Gigs
      • Consultations
    • All in all - John Chow Kicks Ass & Get's Paid For it :)

    bleh john chow...
I didn't even know he is somewhat important at all...
The rise of his postcount you mentioned was because he was doing less money so he upped the postcount to make good for it.

Also JC is a name on it's own due to publications around the world reporting about him in newspapers, on TV etcpp

Good intentions, but bad example to start with because that same way is not possible anymore nowadays!

It was a nice read, I don't know why you didn't think you should give credit to the original post though... you would probably get more thanks and the thread wouldn't get derailed if you just said where you got the article from...

yes it is from my own blog. Also, I don't control the questions posted on my website so if someone things I spend time helping other people, why should I remove it?

I didn't post the second image in here but I have no problem with anyone posting it here :) At the end of the day I'm here to help and haters gonna hate. I've been a long time member at the BHW to know better.
