Just newbie question, I'm looking to buy a 10 year old domain that has no backlinks built. Would this be easier to rank than a completely new domain. Or is there barely no difference?
An aged domain should be easier to rank than a new one but really it depends on the competition.
Plus I would say it depends how much money you are paying for this old domain, if you have to pay a lot of money for it then I would go with a new one, but if you can pick it up cheap then by all means do that.
I can get it for the same price as a brand new one. It is for a niche site that I will build either way. Just wondering if google somehow trusts the backlinks built on an old domain more than one that is just registered.
Since I actually understand SEO, and domain age contributes to domain authority, which contributes to ranking, I know that all things being equal, an aged domain will be easier to rank than a younger domain.
Its not a matter of being a magic recipe, it is a matter of putting the best ingredients into the recipe that you can come up with.
For the record, 10 years of authority is worth maybe two levels of PR on a well done site. Instead of ending up with a PR 3, it would likely end up a PR 4 or 5.
I agree with Techsan been on the SEO business for 5 years and aged domains have very good page authority which is one of the factors in Google's ranking. plus having no backlinks means you can start with it fresh, you don't have to worry about low quality backlinks that would eventually end up being the cause of your penalty so yes you sure purchase it .
