Well it has been two weeks since I began my long, treturous journey down a unpredictable and unknowable path to Internet Marketing Success. What progress I have is not much, BUT, the knowledge I have gained is plenty. It seems to me through all of my searching, reading, and learning of what IM is and how I could gain financially through IM, I found that the #1 Rule for any beginner is to RESEARCH. Research is crucial, I believe, to any successful IM campaign. With little or no research your campaign will fail. When I started IM, I "thought I knew" what was the "perfect" niche that I could make some money on. Well, that wasn't so, and I started out on a niche that had 90+K pages on my niche. I still think it is an untapped niche, and with the right ANGLE, I could definitely make a pretty penny. To stay on track, imagine starting a company. If you do not research a market or product, you won't know what the consumer is going to need. So if you set up a ice cream shop in Alaska, are you going to get any business? Probably, but not much. My point is, take the time to do research. And start small. I am in the process of doing this now. I will be looking for a small niche that gets more searches then there are pages. It won't be easy. Even if there is a niche with a few hundred pages, but get 3000 searches a month, that is something to jump at. Start of small. That is my only advice.

Yea, that's good observation and I would like to add one more thing. TAKE ACTION. Don't get too carried away when researching, if you do, it will be difficult to decide on an effective approach. Find one method, try it as hard as you can before moving on to the next method, if it doesn't work well for you obviously.

exactly! research, but only after picking a method you want to try (then research the hell out of that vertical until you've conquered it). NOT TAKING ACTION is the only reason for failure, everything else is just a learning experience.

That is true. We can take all the time we need to do research and we feel that we are ready to make some money. But when we try to actually do it, quite often we dont know where exactly to start.

Research is one thing, but the ability to focus and take actions is far more important.

The truth is, you don't need to know much in order to take actions. The people who do take actions will learn from experience which is far more valuable than reading books.

It's like looking for a job. People who have practical experience find jobs faster and easier than people who are fresh out of colleges and universities. On the Internet, people who take actions are more likely to succeed than the ones who don't

Yes. Action is also the most important. If you don't take action then there is no results, no results equals no money. Let me emphasize a little more on what I mean by research. What I meant as well is to set up a plan, structure, guidelines to follow before any action is taken. This way you have some blueprints to look back on in case you find yourself looking for what is next. On the other hand, if you jump into taking action without some kind of direction, I brlirvr that could only hurt you more then taking no action at all. But yes, by all means action I would say is #2 rule. :)

No 1 rule should be ACTION. Research after action. Otherwise you've got no data and you won't really learn anything.

My personal no.1 rule is SPELLING. It breaks my heart....a dictionary should be compulsory.
