if say the keywords looks like this

keyword 1- 150,000 monthly searches
keyword 2- 100,000 monthly searches
keyword 3- 50,000 monthly searches

thats a total of 300,000 monthly searches
if all 3 keywords sit at #1 on pg1 of google then i should be getting about 40% of the 300,000 traffic monthly which is 120,000 visitors monthly (its targeted)

is this correct?? because that seems like a shitload of visitors. thats 4k daily visitors

Nope, what keyword tool are you talking about anyway? If Googles is wrong most of the time. You could be sitting in the #1 position and get 10 visitors a day or 10,000 it all depends. Use tools as a guide only.

Make sure you are checking the 'Exact' searches and not broad.

i am using google tool.
also i read in warrior forum that google updated their tool and alot of keyword's search #'s went down drastically. Has anyone noticed this?
I noticed if i use their previous interface the search results are higher then the new interface shows

howcome the broad show up soooo much higher then exact?

if i search say "exercise bands" using "exact" itll show up as
4,400 global searches
but if i do broad it comes up as 22,200 global

why is that??

so using only exact shows the correct monthly numbers?
also do i look at global or local

Yes use exact... I dont know who removed my last post!

Depends which market your targeting us or local (your country).

Exact means someone uses that/those keywords in that exact way i.e "exercise band" where as broad means 22K people searches with those keywords but they also other words... i.e "green exercise band" or "buy exercise band online".

Exact means someone typed in the search query "exercise bands" exactly

Broad match shows results with the words "exercise" and "bands" searched in any order.. someone could've searched "I like to exercise and listen to my favorite bands" and it would count as a search for Broad match.

No it is not true. Numbers are te same. It was like that before, but as time passes the new interface gets better and better and fixes errors.

i just checked though and i am getting higher #'s for search results when i switch over the the old interface.

i have a question... when using google keyword tool
if you do exact search that means the people search using ""
say exact monthly search for exercise bands is 3,000
does that mean people searched this way "exercise bands" as opposed to just exercise bands ?

Exsact does not mean " "..... phrase means " "

OP read other people response, they already explained it... exact doesn't mean people will search with ""... It just mean people are using same term to search not some other variations like buy exercise bands online, cheap exercise bands or blah blah...

exact search result is your way to go but it doesn't mean other options are useless, they got their own benefits... They give you rough idea how any particular niche is... Anyway to avoid confusion concentrate on exact search term...

If you are making site for adsense or got international offer to promote then global result is also good for you...

for my keywords.
kw #1 is targeted a 3 word keyword
kw#2 is 2 word keyword
and kw#3 is also a targeted 3 word keyword

so wouldnt broad be more accurate as to how many people search that per month? and a better guide as to which keywords to target?
i searched back pain for example using exact and it only has
49,500 global monthly searches which is too little for such a huge keyword such as back pain
if i do broad then back pain has 1,500,000 global monthly searches which seems much more accurate for such a keyword

I can almost hear you thinking, "Shit, I can't believe I spent the money on that domain name". Anyway, just make sure you start using exact to get a more accurate picture of the search volume. Also, while doing your research, don't forget to search "keyword" and take note of the results. THEN ... do an allintitle:keyword - allinurl:keyword - allinurl:"keyword" - allinurl:"keyword"

Taking all of those steps will give you all of the info you need.

If those are exact keywords GL ranking first for all 3 of them...

this is a perfect example "back pain" would be searched alot for sure but many of those people might put like "back pain medicine" or "how to relive back pain" or "get rid of pain in my back" and all of these would count as a broad search for "back pain" when the exact would ONLY be people who went to google and put "back pain" in the search box and NOTHING else with it. That is why it seems like such a low number. If only you could go by global and broad some of us would be much much richer lol

Yes,some times ago,I don't know there have the "Exact" options,so I had got many wrong data form the G KW tools.
Then,I had known the "Exact" from my friend, and I have the correct data now.
Please confirm that if you know how to use the tools fully.

it just kind of got me sad because i have an e-commerce site and need as much targeted traffic as possible so that i can have good conversions into sales.
my 3 keywords originally on the old interface showed for broad (thats how i searched before) 165,000, 90,500, 14,000 monthly searches. all 3 keywords are 3 word keywords. now on the new interface and using exact search all 3 are under 1,000 monthly searches which made me extremely sad because i put in alot of effort into these 3 keywords.
the first 2 keywords are #9 on google and the 3rd is #11 and now it feels like all that work is going down the toilet =(
