#1 on google seeing a big increase in traffic

Hey guys been doing good with im lately but have a weird problem .I recently started a site about computers just for fun was not trying to make any money with it .Im number one on google for a few key words which are not even related to my site i didnt even do any seo .Seeing good traffic 40-50 uniques daily also getting alot of returning ips . I threw on a few affiliate ads and added adsense. Any ideas on how i could further monetize this site or use the fact that im number one for keywords that are not related to my niche ?

...could be the freshness bonus, dont overdo it with ads yet, you say you rank for terms you havent even targeted, what is your bounce rate? Are those keywords completely different from what your initial site is about? When they end up on your page after the search what do they find, any useful stuff other than ads? Maybe you should start making pages either pages for those specific keywords or optimize the current one to make them more attractive for the searcher...

The keywords are somewhat relative to my site but i wasnt really focusing on seo .I have some blogs that are making me money this was just a fun thing to do .Its a computer site that offers tips on building pcs among other things hopefully i can keep the traffic going .I started using twitter to advertise using tweet attacks seems to be working .I started a FB page but im not really familiar with that .Also thinking of using scrapebox but not sure if i should let it do its thing for a while first.

you could start building an opt-in email list either by offering a freebie to subscribers (like an ebook) or just promising good information. there are a number of ways to do this. some of them are annoying, like a pop up asking visitors to subscribe, and some are less annoying, like a spot on your page your visitors will notice. i can't tell you what would work best in terms of sheer effectiveness because i've never done email marketing. however, i know that once you have an email list of several thousand subscribers you can start making good money by sending them email promotions for affiliate products related to your niche. just don't over do it or people will unsubscribe. before adsense and cpa networks, the real money in internet marketing used to be in building massive email lists and using them to sell affiliate products. some people might say that's still the best way to do it. i know that a joint venture sent to a large enough targeted opt in email list can make someone a few thousand dollars in just a day or two.

I started a newsletter hoping to get opt ins that way . I also added an advertise here page offer people to advert on my site just started both today see how that goes . Just a tip i starting using onlywire for social bookmarking if you guys are not using it you should check the service out it makes it so easy

Check the competition stats of those keywords you are unsuspectingly ranked for. They may just be super low competition keywords that you have 1-2 instances of in your articles and got picked up by google for.

If your website is a good keyword related ... then its natural to get more and more traffic without SEO.

Note all the keywords major search keywords (I hope you know them). And try to write (or outsource) articles regarding those keywords.

Don't go for any opt-in, email promotion or subscription that will make your visitors get away from the site so early before making your site a bit more organized, aged and stable.
