1 Multi subject website - OR - Multiple single subject sites?

What's the best method if going all WH, maybe some grey here and there but I can't stop thinking if I should layer my sites to one Authority site, and build up that one site and pump some GH tools to say a layer 3 site, that links to a layer 2 site that is some WH/GH and that links to a layer 1 site that is all WH, then that links to the Authority site?

OR

Should I have 1 site that has multiple pages, and each page has multiple articles etc. on only one subject and link directly to each separate page but all WH?

I'm sure both methods work but looking for those who have tried both and what seems to be the most effective.

Side Note: Entrepreneur here, always have been and I have always had a calling for IM, I constantly go back and forth with it over the years, but I think I'll give it a staying shot this time and not quit after 2 weeks or so. I'm older now so more committed to this. Thanks!

Multiple single sites, or one news site. The answer to your question will depend on how you'd want to monetize the site.

When you speak of one news site, are you referring to getting my main site on Google News? Is Google News that effective?

How related of niche's are you talking?
Are you thinking:
Gardening
Home repair
Sort of wide bit related niches or;
Gardening
Business advice

If you are thinking like the 2nd one, I would build authority sites on each broad niche, but if they can be somewhat, or reasonably overlapped, then I would go with one massive site.
While you could do the 2nd group as a single site, it would take Google to really take your site seriously, and building any backlinks would be a very broad task.
And if you do have 2 authority sites, there is nothing saying they can't link to each other when relevant, like write about starting your own garden center and link to a post talking about how to transplant plants properly. Not so much for the link power as the helpful information and the traffic sharing.

I have multiple sites I am trying to build into authority sites, and when I need a relevant citation for an article, I link to one of my other sites if possible.
