Hey people, I need new laptop, so I do wonder, is it worth to buy quality, nice and long lifetime macbook, or strong, not so quality laptop with not so long lifetime?

I do know that there is lot of people talking bad about Mac price but it's really quality thing and it won't slow down with 6 months like most of my laptops and it's really light and quality.

It won't freeze like my laptop and PC in the middle of the project.

Anyone had both of them to give me an advice?

I've got a Macbook Pro Retina and it's great, but it's not perfect. Sometimes it annoys me, but it's better than Window 8 ;)

As for durability, its solid metal so its great.

For that amount you can build a nice Custom desktop PC (powerful too). Though if that is something you'd want.

The VPS or Dedi is the beast :).

I have nice place under house on river, so I am there 24hours/day when it's summer, so PC is not what I'm looking for.

I need this ONLY for writing posts in wordpress and web surfing.

Personally I got both. I have one Macbook Pro, which I do all my easy tasks on and I also got a strong laptop to run all the bots & softwares that might be needed when doing IM. So if you were to choose one, I would say a lightweight laptop that you easily can have in your lap and have it be powerful enough to run some programs or get a VPS. :)

depending on what do you need it for, in that price range you can get a pretty good Thinkpad T550 or T540, Thinkpads will always be better in my book than a Macbook :)

Rather interesting - you know the quality thing. I have an HP laptop that I have been using since 2007 and it still runs well. My wife is using a laptop I bought in 2005 and used until I bought the previous mentioned one. I have a third that I bought from a friend when some university students knocked it out of his hands during the rush to change and broke the screen in 2008. I replaced the screen for $100. It also run well.

What are the brands of theses machines? The one my wife uses is a E-machines w-4620, the other two are HP's in the DV 9000 series.

Shop for quality and the features you want and not for brand name. In today's world quality, brand name or not, is difficult to find. Apple currently has a higher failure rate than HP, Asus, and Toshiba. High failure rates are not what I would call quality. Apple also tend to bork the computer with updates and then refuses to acknowledge that their updates caused failure until you sue them.

Buy a MacBook if you like to show off, you can get a way better laptop for the same price, I've had a lenovo Y50 for a while now and bought a Macbook Pro about 2 months ago, both have pretty much the same price, but I'll pick the Y50 over the Macbook any day.

Hi,

Go with MacBook pro, then install Paralles then you can install Win7.

If you are in the UK, PM me i can send you contact details for a guy to get you discount..

I love my Macbook Air. It's light, fast, and the battery lasts forever. Also, it doesn't get bogged down like Windows. Ubuntu installs very easily on the hardware ;)

You might look into the Chromebook if you just want it for writing and websurfing :)

If you must use it for IM tools, just use Virtual Box (Free) and *cough* buy *cough* a copy of Windows 7.

Then go buy a $300 laptop. I don't understand why you need to spend $1.5k on essentially a keyboard.

Take the extra $1,200 and go do something else with it.

Even cheap laptops these days are powerful enough to do most things. $3-400 can get you a powerful enough laptop these days to do pretty much anything except gaming.

And quality isn't really an issue unless it's made out of glass. I beat my laptops up and they last for years still. If you mean they get "slow" then that's your fault, learn how to use a computer correctly ;)

Macbook Pro is the best, especially if you will be using it for writing articles and web surfing. Mac's really help a creative person in expressing his creativity. If you need a powermachine for scrapebox or other internet marketing tools I'd recommend Windows.

^ what insomnia said. You need to spend money based on what you're using it for. Gaming? Video editing? Email/Surfing?
Get a lower price i7(QUALITY laptop brand) and if you want...just partition the drive and install the MAC OS and have a dual boot.

all bases covered

I need my phone only to call comeone and surf my sites so I have Samsung s5, I should buy Nokia 3310? It can also surf web and call people.

I have my car and I need it to drive me from A to B, I have Golf 6 but I should buy Golf1 instead?

I have my money and my budget and I will spend what I want, it's my money and that's it.

You asked for advice and I gave some. Clearly you didn't take it very well. That's okay though. Do what you want it is your money like you said. Good luck.
