    5 years a go I was noob enough to set up a website with 1&1.

    Over the years I've upgraded to a VPS with them to host a few short term or small websites. A few months ago my websites just stopped working about 6 of them in total. I tried sending a few emails to what I thought was a support email but didn't get a response, I tried the same email again a few weeks ago but still nothing, I've also sent a few messages to their Facebook but they haven't responded.

    The websites wasn't that important anymore so didn't have back ups or anything. I learned a few years ago to host more important websites with better companies, but would like to get these lesser important websites back for portfolios etc but 1&1 aren't responding at all, the only way left is to phone but the number they have listed isn't freephone and I'm not paying them extra to get my websites working which should be working anyway.

    If anybody knows anything about hosting the error I get is
    PDOException
    : SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket 'mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in lock_may_be_available()
    When I try to log into Plesk on the VPS I get a 503 error.

    This appears to either MYSQL is down or you have reached the specifications of the VPS. The only way is to ask your provider unforunately, this is a pretty generic error.

    I think only they can fix that error as its on their end. You should give a try to Hostwinds - They support is top notch and most of times, my issue gets fixed within an hour.

    1&1 is not exactly my favorite place for either domain names or web hosting. But from what you said I guess you have a managed vps there ? If that's the case you should contact them because they should take care of all these hosting related problems for you.

    503 error have do many different meanings like when site has crashed due to a reason like 1000 or more queued requests to your website. Did you try to restart your vps ?

    Great, it would be good if you can share the things here in public. So, other members also could benefit from your help. Thanks - BB

    You are scammed.
    Try another responsible company for this. You can use BlueHost for getting very efficient and quick results.

    Once I made a post on this thread, intended to research about 1&1 reviews. Let me share few things with you all,

    Most of us know that, 1&1 is actually one of the oldest web hosting companies - founded in 1988. They offers basic and advanced hosting packages for Linux or Windows-based servers. The Web host offers a wide array of packages, including shared hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated hosting, and managed WordPress.

    1&1 does many things right. It has easy to use website creation tools, simple WordPress setup, and dependable up time too. But when I was looking into their reviews, every review I read is followed by a slew of complaints. Either their services suck, their price plans suck, or their customer services suck. Its becoming very difficult to find one - BB
