Hey,

Just wanted to share my experience.

I had this domain for few years but it was just parked. I put a website on April 17.

I used scrapebox rapid indexer to get it indexed within 12 hours.

I started posting some comments on several websites. Maybe 20 websites total. Just replying to various articles on sites like Gizmodo, etc.

I created a hand full of (relatedkeyword) . wordpress . com sites. And put up a few articles that i spun with TBS. I also created accounts on other sites like last.fm and used my keywords/url in profile.

I purchased a LInk Pyramid.

I purchased a few .EDU, high PR links

Thats about it. I did all this in the first 2-3 weeks of the site being indexed.

Then i started working on adding content. I scraped sites like amazon and added a bunch of products to my sites. I'm talking about thousands (50,000+) of products scraped and added to my site.

So my main focus has been on adding content and improving the website.

I attached a screenshot of my traffic from analytics.

I did not add any monetization links until about 1-2 weeks ago. Although, my site does link directly(not through affiliate links) to amazon from each one of the products i scrapped from amazon.

I will continue to improve the site and work on making an actual page for each one of the products. Right now i'm just showing 20 products per page.

I don't remember what else i did.

I didn't do any Scrapebox blasts or AMR blasts or any other blasts.

Congrats, but I'd beware with content that is not unique.. I know there's money in autoblogging, but I'm not sure that's something you wanna get into since you posted this in the whitehat section.

Well i added just Adsense about a 1.5 weeks ago and it was making a few $ a day, but it was just a banner on top of the site. So it was clearly an ad that people would ignore.

However, for whatever reason Google ended up not allowing the site after a week.
"As stated in our program policies, sites displaying Google ads should
provide substantial and useful information to the user. Users should be
able to easily navigate through the site to find what products, goods, or
services are promised.

While reviewing your site, our team of specialists determined that it does
not comply with the spirit of these guidelines.

ACTION TAKEN: We have disabled ad serving to your site."

The reason doesn't really make sense. The site is an aggregator of movie/tv/entertainment information. Its actually useful and its really easy to navigate.

I have put up a banner to a CPA offer on the spot that had the adsense banner and the cpa offer is making more money than adsense.

Once i plug in more links next to all the products then it should make a lot more.

The main reason i started this site is to try out some SEO techniques i learned on BHW. I believed that keeping affiliate links off the site would help with ranking. That is why i took so long to monetize it.

I've had over 9000 visits total in the 2 months since the site was indexed. about 1/3 are from 2 main keyphrases that are in my domain name, and the rest are from long tail keywords.

Well originally i was going to do what a lot of people on here do. I have the scrapebox, amr, and few other tools, but i decided that i would try to work towards building a site without doing the really black hat techniques. I did a few black hat techniques(bought a link pyramid and link buying) in first 2-3 weeks, but thats about it.

Perhaps posting in this section was wrong.

I would say don't do duplicate content but the one site I have with 80% duplicate content taken from Amazon is sitting at #1 for a 3k exact keyword. My other quality sites with all original content aren't at #1 so hah, good luck maybe it still works. Although I wouldn't put adsense on copied content website or you're asking to get banned. But what do I know Google doesn't make sense.

Well the products are duplicate but many sites sell the same type of dvds/blu-rays etc so i thought it would be okay.

I am also adding unique text/keywords around each item.

I'm also working on a content spinner for the site so that each time someone or GoogleBot visits the page it automatically creates somewhat unique text.

I've heard of this technique from a friend and it seems to work well for them. Not sure what else they're doing but spinning text on the page sounds like it would help.

For example a site like popurls.com is all duplicate content but it seems to do well.

I scrapped sites other than just amazon and merged the data together.

Everytime i add a bunch of content to the site google seems to like it. Even if its duplicate.

:focus: So you're not ranking for any KWs? Or you are? Where is the source of all this traffic? The WP blogs? That seems a little nuts.

I am ranking for my main domain keyphrase. 3 word phrase. It is a plural phrase. The singular version of the phrase is the goal.

I rank for many keywords and my rank jumps up and down a lot. Google dancing.

I attached a screen - although i haven't ran rank checker in days. 6th spot is my main plural keyword domain phrase (3k local exact searches a month). and 10th spot is the singular one of that phrase with (20k exact searches a month - this one in 10th spot brings in more traffic than 6th spot one).

Those 2 phrases bring in 1/3 of all traffic.

How did you scrape those 50,000+ products/pages to your site?
I suppose manually it was not.;)

I used web scraping software like Web Content Extractor or web spider.. There are many. Then used formulas in excel to filter and clean up the data. Also wrote php scripts to scrape the RSS feeds. Made crons out of those so the products are updated daily.

Was about a 1-2 weeks of work to scrape and clean up. but now its all mostly automated. Still needs work though.
