Hey fellows, I've just found out that 1and1 are celebrating their 25th anniversary and they are giving away COM and INFO domains for 0.99$. You can register only one domain for that price. Discount will be over in 9 days. You can pay via PayPal or CC. Get it while it lasts!

I just tried to purchase a Domain with this but I'm confused as to if it went through or not. They made me complete something on Paypal that said they could charge me monthly in the future and then never asked me to confirm the original charge of $0.99. This monthly thing was just part of their process as I did not get hosting through them. I used checkdoimain.com and it says my domain name is still available and I haven't received any emails from 1&1. Does this mean my purchase didn't go through?

You have to wait 24-48 hours for activation as I know. You made a "billing agreement" to renew domain every year, but you can cancel it easily at your paypal. Now you just need wait for activation.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I jumped the gun on that one because I can now log in and see the domain has been purchased but now I'm having a problem trying to transfer. When I try to unlock the domain for transfer I get the message "This domain cannot be (un)locked." Is there something in the terms for this $0.99 deal that says you can't transfer the domains and therefore are required to get hosting through them? Or is there something I can do with DNS to point to my other hosting?

*EDIT* I am Googling and reading looking for these answers but coming up short at the moment.

I don't think someone can charge you automatically without confirmation on PayPal. ;) I do not use this site, but maybe they wanted you to confirm your PP account for fast checkout or something like that. Many merchants do this.

Everything seems to work fine. I've changed my DNS settings and I have to wait a while, you can ask support if you have any problems. or questions. Although they still haven't charged me for that domain.

UPDATE
Everything works fine, I'm using domain at the moment.
