How do you typically find a profitable niche on amazon kindle? Do you just think of potential categories then look up the related keywords on amazon for competitor's book's ranks?

Finally made an account after finding this site recently and lurking for a few days. I also found out you need a minimum amount of posts for some actions so are there any recommended sub forums I could post in while contributing as a newcomer?
