Any traffic coming from youtube is purely a bonus. I am more interested in using youtube and videos as SEO for the blog. Making a video for me won't take long at all so that doesn't bother me.

I have a blog that is around 7 or 8 months old. It has an EMD, and around 11 pieces of unique content that was written by me. Each article contains around 2 to 3 links to an affiliate. Good descriptions and titles, varied anchors. The site stayed in the #1 and #2 spots for those first 7 months...
