I have tried a few SEO tools like Market Samurai, SEOMOZ and Keyword Country etc... Out of the three Keyword Country is best for me by now. It has many valuable tools that justify its cost.
Create RSS feeds for your website and submit these feeds to Google news.

Yes, it could be a problem in SEO... Search engines do have a problem in crawling rich media files like flash, AJAX etc.
So, if possible avoid Ajax or do not add any important files in Ajax which you want to get crawled by search engines.
Google prefers to display listing in the top which are cited by other websites... You may submit your business listing to other website to assure Google that you are not a fake business listing.

So you have a page with unwanted URL, its very simple to redirect the page to some other URL using 301 redirect.
That won't harm your inner page in any way.

I don't think placement of hyperlink matters... But if you are placing anchor text, their placement is crucial. They must be palced wherever user get induced to click them.

Your option sounds good but your domain name would become very generic and there are huge chances of getting unwanted traffic.

It seems that top two websites are sponsored listings, followed by local listings and then your website. I guess, I am right...
In that case you have to work a lot... Its not easy to out rank local listings (there are many other local factors which affects local rankings)
