Directories are bad, stay away. They goal is to not see how many backlinks you can get to your site, its about consistency. A constant growth of content (on your site) and a continuous flow of backlinks to your inner pages not just homepage.- supaH

Best way to get articles indexed?
If your trying to index 1-2 articles a day, then I would suggest Google +. Build up a profile, join circles, get people to join your circles.
