In my experience, content maintenance is one of the most underrated factors. Many people focus on publishing new articles but rarely update old ones. I have seen refreshed content recover rankings without building a single new backlink.

If google disappeared tomorrow, I would focus on niche relevant communities or forums like reddit, quora, etc along with email marketing. I think replying on a single traffic source is risky nowadays. Building traffic from multiple channels is much safer in the long run.

My biggest technical blogging mistake is ignoring technical seo in the beginning. I focused so much on publishing content that I overlooked things like crawl issues, internal linking and page speed. When I fixed those later it made a bigger difference than I expected.

I wake up at the same time, work out for a couple of hours, spend a few hours on my hobbies and then just go with the flow.

I prefer planning both topical cluster and internal links before publishing. It makes content creation much easier and helps build a stronger internal linking structure from the starting. You can always expand the clusters later, but having a plan upfront saves a lot of work.

I do not think it is just your setup. Reddit is becoming more stricter day by day. I have seen aged accounts with good karma get hit too. I think it all about overall account behavior and how naturally the account is used matter more than age or karma alone.
