Yeah, but I know this chick got 1,000 followers from it today. Whatever he was doing seems to have been patched now, but he has still got 97,542 subscribers now, so they haven't banned his account yet.

This came up in my Facebook feed about an hour ago; now it came up because one of my female Facebook friends had liked it. I actually know this chick as a 'real' friend, who I have known in person for years. I saw that she had liked this and did a very quick search to see what the scam was...

Google did an algo update recently to rank more upto date and relevant content higher for newsworthy items, so a lot would depend on your niche.
