.US does have some strength(no idea about .biz). I have seen many hyphened domains ranked #1. Quality site will obviously be great with a hyphened domain.
It happened to me too. I once i ranked well for one my .US site i thought of getting whois protection and was later declined. It makes sense why it is not aloud.
Move the site files before changing the Nameservers for the domain and then change the nameservers so that you have no downtime even at the time of transfer.
The only way you can rank for any keyword is to have a site up and have some content. And godaddy auctions are for domains not for sites. They are just plain domains, so they won't be ranking for any keywords.
They hold expired domains on life support and sell it on auctions. They do their own appraisals. I kind of don't like it that a big firm jumps in and takes the market for itself.
