GSA is only good for platform sites (like Elgg, PHPFox). They do poorly on Web 2.0 sites. Also you'll get ugly google captchas now if you're using GSA. The only software I think can get pretty captcha (house number) (hence higher success rate) is Xrumer.
Google can easily detect you if you use PhantomJS. Also be careful when using User agent spoofing. You can't hide what you're using under the hood through user agent.

I don't think that you can bypass the throttling. If there is a security hole for you to do that, many people will know about it and your ISP will definitely fix it soon.
