It's a highly competitive field. I rank high on some very specific keywords but otherwise, not very high.

There is a way to search for all wordpress based comments on .edu sites. I used to add comments there and hope it gets approved. If you give relevant comment to their article and if there is a real person behind the blog, your chances of getting your comment and url approved will be high.

Something similar happened to me. What I did was I took the exact url it was landing on (a non existing page on my site) and created a gocode for it using the plugin to an offer landing page. It stopped after 2-3 days.
