you can rank with blogger if you do it right, what's the point of EMD "bonus" if you screw other things? it's not like EMD is a major ranking factor. it's one of many. if your site suck there's no .com .net .org or any extension that can help you

i'm #2 with 6600 exact and getting like 20 visitors a day from which 50% are long tails, which really sux. so yeh, g is lying big time, i wasted few months to get top spot for nothing.

i'm not an expert, but from my expirience if you were in top 5 you should be back there after some time, i believe the age of your site is the issue here. all my new domains drop after some short time of ranking, and most of them come back. sometimes it takes few months though
