I've seen lots of aged domains but they are just that... domains... no website or content on them. My understanding is aged domains with no content have essentially no SEO power. But ones that do (i.e. old WEBSITES) do. Is that correct? When people sell 'aged domains' i just do a search...

Add the logos to a different site and see if that effects them... Like most people have said, it's probably the Google update and not the addition of icons...

Very good to know. Great advice - stop looking for shortcuts. FYI to OP... the method of getting expired domains, restoring them from wayback machine crawls, and having the working site running I think would be a better method. A bit more work, but well worth it.
