Just a heads up - you can host your site on something like netlify at no cost.

I imagine 99% of people are using a CMS at this point, no one is editing txt files and uploading them via ftp.

New sites are most likely getting watched a bit more carefully than aged ones. No rush, so just start slow.

Check out ahrefs, follow some of their education content and you'll be on the right path without wasting time figuring stuff out on your own.
