Lately I’ve been watching a lot of Dr. Tyson’s videos, and my FYP has become full of crazy facts and “what ifs.”

Some of those videos really makes me 'stop and think'

In one of his videos, Dr. Tyson said that if we had a futuristic telescope and were observing Earth from 2 million light-years away, we would be seeing Earth as it was 2 million years ago.

Imagine being able to look at Earth from that far away and watch dinosaurs roaming around here. How cool that'd be?!

And on another video he said lemon size neutron star could weigh billions of tons

I just wanted to know more, but I can't keep scrolling, Lol :D

Tell me a fact that made you "stop and think" and I will personally check it.
(Not just astronomy, it could be any topic :suspicious:)

mine is usually about religion discovery and life in general even tho smoetimes i am scared to even discovery or learning more about somethings because i just start seeing things and life in a different angle and i dont want to dig deeper because i am not sure i am ready for somethings

Yeah, the lesser you know the more happier you are (for certain topics) :)
Try astronomy the facts are interesting!! ;)

Laser cooling is a cool thing to check out. Kinda interesting. I think this is the science behind atempts at coldfusion not too sure.

Some of the stars you see at night may no longer exist.

Light takes time to travel.

If a star is 1,000 light-years away, you're seeing light that left it 1,000 years ago.

It may have changed dramatically or even exploded since then.

You're looking at its history, not necessarily its present condition.

you probably already know this but you never actually touch anything in your life. Touch implies physical interaction with something but at the microscopic level atoms repel each other through electromagnetic forces so technically you have never physically touched anything.

See this is one of the really interesting ones. This is perhaps why physicist say we are in a illusion of sorts i guess.

A day on Venus is longer than its entire year. It takes Venus about 243 Earth days to rotate once, but only 225 days to orbit the Sun.
Imagine celebrating New Year before your day even ends!

A cloud that looks like a soft cotton floating in the sky may way a million tons. Read this on one of the endless instagram accounts posting these lol

Okay here's one: Wigner's Friend paradox, so basically a friend measures a quantum particle in a sealed lab, and for them it collapses into one definite state, but for you outside, the whole lab is still in superposition, both are valid, and their realities literally contradict each other, people called it philosophy for decades... Then in 2020 a team actually ran it with entangled photons, and the contradiction held up, conclusion: one of our most basic assumptions about reality has to be wrong, and the scariest candidate is objectivity itself, like there might be no fact that's absolutely true for two observers at the same time...

I think the one that takes the cake no hands down is banach and tarski. In terms of paradoxes.

Haha touché! Banach-Tarski breaks geometry, but Gödel broke logic itself, nothing beats proving math is fundamentally incomplete...
