I often see people focusing on domain authority when choosing backlinks, but relevance seems equally important. If you had to choose between a highly relevant website with moderate metrics and a high-authority site in an unrelated niche, which would you prefer and why?

I’d prefer niche-relevant backlinks with decent authority over high-DA links from completely unrelated websites. Relevance, quality, and natural link placement matter more than DA alone. The best strategy is to build a balanced backlink profile with both strong authority and niche relevance.

In my opinion DA doesn't matter ...
because DA can be increased through fake backlinks show to moz and too many persons on marketplace providing DA services.
in final, DA is just for show not any quality.

and another thing of niche relevant this is too much matter for backlinks.

same for me, although i would also verify if the site has real organic traffic and if the link was placed organically. high DA sounds great on paper, but it means nothing if there’s no real audience on the site.

I'd lean toward the relevant site if it has real visitors and useful content. A big DA number looks nice, but it doesn't tell you whether the link makes sense for your audience.

same here, I would analyze the organic traffic of the site and whether the pages of the site receive any traffic at all. The site should have real traffic, not just a high DA score.

Highly relevant niche sites are fine, and usually the better buy. Topic match does more than a DA number on an unrelated site. If you're going for high-DA links, aim for news publications that cover multiple niches, since your topic fits there naturally. Using both works best: niche sites for relevance, news sites for authority and brand visibility.

I'll choose both, If I find a high DA website with real traffic and genuine metrics even if it's not relevant to my niche, why should I ignore it? I'll consider relevance too, but I'll try to choose both.

Yes relevant, from highly authoritative websites are more useful than links that have moderate metrics. Also another factor of backlink quality is of they are driving traffic to your websites as well.

I would rather go for the links that bring me the traffic in my niche even if the da is average. I have seen many instances where the da is high but the traffic is low nd even has a bad linking profile. everything may seem good on paper but first I would analyze referring domain nd placement.

I would prefer a niche-relevant backlink with moderate metrics. Bcz, relevance brings more value and helps search engines understand the connection between websites. High DA is good, but a natural backlink from a trusted, relevant websites are usually more beneficial than an unrelated high authority link.
