Why are all these AI websites—where you can use Seedance, Veo, and whatever else is out there for models so incredibly expensive?? A subscription costs $20 a month for 1,000 credits, and creating a video for TikTok, for example—even one that’s just a few seconds long—already costs 600 credits.

That’s just a rough example from the Genfire website, but all these websites are that expensive.

Aren’t there any good alternatives?

Dude, most AI video websites are just middleman SaaS wrappers charging huge markups on API calls. u're much better off renting a cloud GPU then have a look on open source video model like ComfyUI

video eats a lot of gpu so credits go fast, paying per use on the api is way cheaper than those monthly plans

Rented GPUs are usually under a dollar an hour, if you don't mind a little manual ComfyUI setup.

Qwen 2.1 for images and MiniMax h3 for video will get you a long way.

Grok generates not the most realistic videos, but in my opinion the best value for its price

i know about Comfyui and i have a AMD Gpu. First it takes toooo long to generate a 30 sec clip and second it might get error and abort after like 20 minutes rendering -.-
Maybe its better with a Nvidia gpu i dont know.

AI video generation is expensive because rendering takes serious computing power. I'd compare official model pricing with third-party platforms and test free credits before subscribing. For TikTok, mixing AI clips with regular editing can stretch your budget much further.

MUSE can create pretty good looking short videos that can be connected to make longer videos. And you can get 1 billion bonus tokens when you join, best of all it's free.
