free virtual number mobile application?

I salute the whole community.

Are there any mobile applications that provide free virtual numbers for testing purposes, where I can also read incoming messages?
In the past, I was able to get trial numbers from applications such as TextNow, 2nd Number and TextMeUp, but I can't get them anymore.
Can you help me with this? Thank you.

The short answer is those old free apps are dead for serious testing. Major services instantly flag those VoIP ranges, so the code never arrives.

Unfortunately, many of the apps that offered truly free trial numbers with SMS access (like the ones you listed) have become restricted due to spam and fraud prevention. For reliable testing purposes, the best options now often involve low-cost pay-per-use SMS verification services or numbers from established VoIP providers like Google Voice (US only) or cheap virtual SIMs that offer a small number of free incoming messages. Always confirm the service's policies regarding trials and incoming SMS support before relying on it for testing.

You are hitting a major roadblock: the well-known free virtual number apps (TextNow, TextMeUp) have been aggressively filtered by most major platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok) because they were widely abused for bulk account creation.

For reliable, free testing where you can read incoming SMS, you should look for open-source or temporary SMS verification services available via web interfaces, not mobile apps. However, if you need a dedicated mobile application, you must switch to low-cost paid services (often specialized VoIP apps) or search the Buy, Sell, Trade (BST) section of the forum for vendors selling high-volume SIM or Mobile Proxy accounts that include valid phone numbers, as these are far less likely to be filtered than general VoIP numbers.

for just testing the free app numbers are fine, theyre all shared voip though so a chunk come pre flagged and wont pull codes from the pickier sites. if youre only reading a test sms textnow still does it, if its real account verification the free numbers will let you down

    • Those are decent free options, but keep in mind that many platforms often block or flag free VoIP numbers like TextNow for SMS verification.
    • If you need numbers for serious account verification, paid non-VoIP SMS services usually work much more reliably
