Google intentionally keeps the original phone number as a strong recovery/verification method. Enabling an authenticator app (or other 2FA) does not remove the requirement to verify with that phone number when the account gets disabled or flagged.Hey, since everyone here is using temp sms verification services, how do u deal with gmail account getting disabled and asking for sms for the number that u verified with? ( usually 50% of number last 24h only ) is there like a method so they don't ask for sms? I tried integrating an authenticator app with 2 steps verification enabled but they still ask for sms on old numbers when my gmail get disabled.
There is no reliable method to stop Gmail from asking for the original SMS number
