Hey guys,

I've been recently testing promoting adult dating using exoclick, and I've been targeting a lot of tier 2 locations that have good economies like germany, switzerland, etc.... I'm admittedly new to media buying but have been in adult for a LONG time using other traffic. I want to expand to media buying.

At first I started with exoclick popunders and was getting a bit of success, some days I would be profitable and some days not. Mobile wasn't very good, desktop a lot better.

I decided to move to what is "supposed" to be better quality traffic.

I've been running banner campaigns this past week on both mobile and desktop, using BEMOB as my tracker so I can optimize based on the data.

Here's the problem though... there is nothing to optimize. I've spent $400 in banner clicks for $9 in leads ... I am shocked and horrified by these results. Even popunder was WAY better then this. I can't even believe my eyes frankly.

I'm not using whack unrelated banners or completely shit offers, I'm using the strongest offers I can find in these geos across several networks (crak, los pollos, imonetize) And the banners are as good as any i've seen on these tubes. It's not a matter of swapping out a banner trust me on that part at least.

I'm also willing to lose money and optimize my way to success, but this isn't even close to being successful at all. I'm burning money like its going out of style!

Am I doing something wrong, or is exoclick banner traffic just total trash? Is anyone successfully running banners on exoclick? I'm trying to stay motivated but its hard to run campaigns that are this bad.

Any advice is appreciated or insight

Lol before replies.. I'm pretty sure I may have found the reason. Will be able to confirm in next 24-48 hours.

Despite taking my time with the other targeting & sections, I fucked up and overlooked the ZONES and it was set to "ALL" and on top of that I was noticing I could bid the lowest amount possible and still get "tons of traffic" even at the lowest bid. Newb mistake.

Looking at the reports in bemob, I can see that exoclick spread my traffic across a lot of zones, and my "theory" is they fed me to the sharks and I bought a bunch of the most junk traffic on the network. Selecting ALL zones and setting the bid to the lowest.... I don't think that was a good idea.

Now I'm going to carefully target only their premium zones and go forward.

Anyone here have a similar experience with exoclick....getting some real junk when targeting all zones at low bid?

I think the issue may be more about traffic quality than the banner, It could be worth checking GEO and device data first since some segments can burn budget without converting.

Pause placements that spend consistently without leads, instead of changing the whole campaign after a bad day.

Yes, banner traffic can be very hit or miss and I would break the data down by GEO, device and placement first and then cut the bad sources and keep testing the ones that actually bring leads.

You must check each placement before judging ExoClick, If most of your budget is going to poor placements just cutting them and keeping the better ones can make a big difference.

Don’t assume banners are always higher quality because track each placement separately and compare desktop versus mobile before putting more money into the campaign.

In my opinion it is worth testing different placements before giving up on banners also focus on the sources that bring actual leads rather than just clicks.

Maybe the banners are getting clicks but not the right users, you should check the traffic quality before spending more.

Running ExoClick on "All" zones with a floor bid is just burning budget on bot scrap. Isolate your traffic sources by pulling zone IDs directly from your tracker, blacklist the dead weight, and run whitelist only campaigns with higher caps on the spots actually generating revenue.

Try comparing GEO and device results separately, as Germany desktop traffic may perform much better than mobile traffic in other countries.
Good idea. I would divide my test audience according to the device used and the location before carrying out any modifications because conversion rate varies widely. Sometimes the data gives a clear winner but is hidden when averaged.

Banner traffic can behave very differently from popunders. People may notice the ad but not be ready to sign up.

ExoClick banners might work for some offers, but results can vary a lot by GEO and placement, I think you should look at the actual data before deciding the traffic source is the problem.

The banner creative might be getting clicks but not enough interest to sign up.
well, clicks aren’t really important because the visitors may not be registering. i’d first look at the message on the landing page and the registration process itself, and then try a new banner copy.
