Ahrefs vs Semrush for a beginner on a strict budget?

Start with Search Console and free research. If you need a paid tool, try one month of each on the same keywords and keep the one that gives useful results.

If you could only afford one tool for finding low-competition, high-volume keywords, which one would you choose and why? Or should I just stick to group buys for now to learn the ropes?
If my budget is low, I will go with Semrush. The only thing I really like about Ahrefs is its Content Explorer feature. Other than that, Ahrefs is quite expensive.

i'd avoid group buys for learning if you can. shared accounts can have limits and messy data, so i'd rather use free trials/tools until you understand keyword research, then pay for one solid platform.

I have used Ahrefs as a beginner and it helped me a lot with keywords and plays important role in getting good trafficc.
So I would go with Ahref.

Would highly recommend using Ahrefs' free webmaster tools to begin with, as others have also suggested. However, from my own experience of using paid versions of both tools, I'd probably go with semrush tbh

Use the same tool for a few weeks first, so you learn how its numbers behave instead of comparing every tool.

Focus on finding keywords you can actually build useful content around, not just the ones with the biggest volume.

For a beginner on a tight budget I’d pick one tool and learn it properly rather than relying on group buys Both have solid keyword data but the real value comes from knowing how to judge competition and search intent

I’d go with Ahrefs if you can afford it, but if budget is tight, a group buy is fine for learning the basics before paying for your own tool.

I'd start with Semrush on a budget, then upgrade once your keyword research skills improve.
