A focused community makes it easier to attract the right people and establish a clear identity. If it starts getting repetitive or membership growth completely stalls, that's a good signal to widen the topic slightly rather than abandoning the idea altogether.
Build one if the people are really into it.
Too narrow is when there’s basically nothing left to talk about after a few weeks and no one sticks around.
As long as the topic keeps people coming back it’s fine.
Too niche only applies if there is nothing left to debate after three threads lol. If they have enough money to pour into it, make it boards with less traffic are easier to moderate and make money from anyway.
I think narrow is actually good in the beginning. The real problem starts when the topic is so small that people run out of things to discuss. If you can still think of new questions, problems and updates around it every week, I’d say it’s not too narrow.
