I have seen campaigns where the initial subscriber cost looks excellent, but after checking retention and actual channel activity, the picture changes completely. I'm starting to think subscriber quality should be treated as the main KPI rather than simply chasing the lowest CPJ.

I have seen this with telegram campaigns too. A cheap subscriber means little if most users leave quickly or never engage. I usually look at retention, views and activity over the CPJ before judging the campaign.

Make a separate named invite link for each source, TG shows joins per link. Compare that with views per post a few weeks later and you'll see which source actually sticks.

100%. Cheap subscribers are almost always dead bot accounts,

they blow up your member count for a second, but they drop off fast, tank your engagement rates, and make your channel look fake to real people

Focusing on retention, active readers, and actual conversions is definitely the way to go.

One invite link per source plus views per post a few weeks later told us more than any CPJ number, we dropped the sources whose joiners never opened a post

Cheap subscribers might look good at first, but if they aren't real or engaged, they usually don't add much value. Quality and genuine engagement matter more in the long run.

High-quality content and staying up to date are very important.
It’s also very important to keep track of your invitation links and analyze your traffic.

nobody here is splitting leavers from dead weight, thats not the same problem. the ones who drop off actually fix your ratio by themselves, its the ones who stay subscribed forever and never open a post that keep your views down permanently. so i track views per member not retention, and i dont judge a source till past 30 days becuase week 1 always looks fine.
