Hi, I'm currently having a problem where I'm losing reach on my accounts.

Whenever I start a new account, the content goes viral after the 4th or 5th post. Then, over the next few days, I still get 20–100k views per post, but eventually it drops to just 1–5k views per post.

What's causing this?

What's the interaction ratios on each the posts? If instagram sees people are not interacting it may reduce exposure.

10-15% Likes ratio, 8sec reels with average 5sec playtime per person. Shares and reposts are alos pretty high

I think IG just gives new accounts a little boost at first to test the content. Just keep posting, test different hooks, and don't worry too much if the views drop for a while.

maybe it's happen for instagram algorithm. same problem i am facing from 6 months. i post consistently but didn't get results like before. i hope instagram will fix it soon

Totally, it's 100% normal if the views drop. Keep being consistent, and the wave will go and leave, it's like a wave.

Constantly creating new accounts and posting aggressively in an attempt to gain sudden virality can cause the system to flag your account as suspicious (similar to spam/bot accounts), thereby automatically stifling your reach.

Instagram often gives new accounts an initial boost, but after that your reach depends much more on retention, shares, and overall engagement, so focus on improving the content rather than expecting the early numbers to continue.

The platform promotes the distribution of content from new accounts to a random group of viewers to measure engagement metrics.

maybe it is the content that is not being tested so rigorouslly after the initial few posts on the account. u should examine whether the users r watching the entire video reel, sharing the post or skipping it within the first few seconds. this is likely where i would begin rather than creating a new account each time.

Yeah, usually it's because new accounts get a wider test push at the start. Once people stop watching as long or engaging as much, the platform pulls back your reach pretty quickly.

that’s normal, new accounts get a “honeymoon” boost, then the algorithm tightens as it learns your real retention and engagement rates

That’s the classic "initial test surge" algorithm behavior.

When you launch a fresh account, IG pushes your 4th/5th reel to a broad seed audience to gather initial retention data. If the retention rate drops on subsequent posts, or if the algorithm detects repeated patterns (e.g., re-used metadata, same device fingerprint, external link in bio, or lack of account warmup), it puts you into the standard 1k–5k view baseline.

A few things that usually fix this:

  • Watch time & Shares (DMs): The algorithm heavily prioritizes "Sends per Reach" over likes. Optimize your hooks for shares.
  • Metadata / Deduplication: If you're reposting clips, re-encode them slightly (change frame rates, tweak audio pitch, resize) so IG doesn't flag them as duplicate content.
  • Don't touch the bio link yet: Adding affiliate/external links early triggers a trust filter that caps views.

Algorithms have changed, instagram now prioritizes video recommendations based on a wider range of criteria than before, meaning you need to invest more effort into your content.

Don't worry it's normal, happening with my pages as well. I think Instagram re-tests your page and videos and after a few days you will see good reach again.

Classic 'newbie boost' mechanism by IG algorithm. Are you uniqueizing the metadata and video pixel hashes before uploading? Also, what type of proxies/devices are you using to manage these accounts?
