90% of your casino/crypto/gambling budget is probably going to keywords that never convert

So this is something we run into almost every time we take over a new casino, crypto, casino or gambling ad accounts.

And it kind of surprises me it’s still this common issue for many account ads.

Many accounts look very correct but conversion issues in these niches.

9/10 - it’s the same thing. most of the budget’s going toward broad casino / slots / betting terms that bring in volume but barely convert.

While the actual income are coming from a much smaller set of specific terms, usually some mix of brand + bonus type + GEO + crypto payment method.

This was sorted by conversions instead of clicks.

So In These Niches = Conversions > Traffic From Main Keywords

Handling over a lot of these accs we found few angles that increased conversions:

1. Turn off search partners/display auto-expansion, honestly recovers more wasted spend than you’d expect.

2. Manual bids on the proven winners instead of leaving it on maximize conversions.

3. Iterating daily instead of weekly, dead keywords add up fast when iGaming/crypto CPCs are already this high

4. Bidding on competitor brand names and sending that traffic to comparison pages instead of the homepage, works surprisingly well for crypto casino vs crypto casino comparisons

5. we ended up putting together a rough sheet just to sort winners from losers instead of digging through the search terms report by hand every time. happy to share it if anyone wants the template (if BHW allows it)

Curious if anyone else running igaming/crypto gambling is seeing the same pattern, or if it’s worse for you on certain GEOs?

Where is your CPA sitting on this stuff right now?

I've seen that on some accounts

But it's not always a GEO problem. Although sometimes for tier 1 it is more the case.

So, you have two choice, either try to set up another campaign or let your budget be burnt a bit and change something.

for us it’s less GEO, more how fast we act once it’s clearly not converting. we don’t wait it out, we rebuild fresh rather than nurse a burnt campaign back.

do you usually fix the existing one first, or start clean?

Never happened to me personally, but I always suggest to start clean if it persists for more than 2-3 weeks

Two to three weeks is a long time to bleed on a dead campaign. I'd check search term reports first, since half the "burnt" ones I've seen were just broad match pulling junk queries, and a rebuild would repeat the same mistake.

Hello, do you handle setting up Google Ads campaigns?

We handle a lot of google ads accounts for setting up campaigns and thats how we where able to identify the patterns bro.

Agreed completely.

At 21Bit the broad word casino brings signups who never deposit. The terms that pay are the game names people already type, a specific slot, not the category.

Its not about 21bit or any other campaign, if your google ads is optimized towards cheap registration keywords and it is not deposit intent you will get only signups but no deposits.

Focusing on adding negatives aggressively and optimizing on Deposit based keywords will bring you more deposits.
