Hey everyone,

I’m setting up WhatsApp Business API with a package that includes 1,000 SMS credits, but whenever we try to link a phone number, the account gets banned.

Has anyone run into this? What could be causing it, and what should I check?

Should the phone number’s country match the country associated with the WhatsApp Business account or the profile? Do the numbers need to be warmed up before linking? Could a geo mismatch or an untrusted number be contributing to the bans?

Any advice or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd check the business verification and number history first. The issue is probably with the setup or account rather than warm up.

number should be with history

Your setup is not tight enough so some data is leaking. WhatsApp is not longer joking with third-party APIs these days. Also if you can use proxies to match the exact country the whatsApp is located, I am sure it will help also.

I’d first check the Business Manager verification, phone number ownership, account quality, and API provider setup. A mismatch or policy issue could trigger restrictions during linking.

all bm are verified I buy for wa api

Country of the number doesn't have to match the BM, that's not your issue. Couple of things that do cause it: the number was registered on the normal WhatsApp/Business app and not deleted there before moving it to API, or it's a recycled/VoIP range that's already flagged. And if the BMs are bought, that's the first thing I'd suspect a verified BM carries whatever history it had before you got it. WhatsApp Manager usually shows the restriction reason on the account overview, worth checking what it says.

the usual cause is the number was already on regular whatsapp before, the api rejects anything with history on consumer wa. also if your bsp handed you those numbers theyve probably been cycled through other BMs already. use a number thats never touched whatsapp and dont blast on day one

I’d check whether the number is eligible for WhatsApp Business Platform and whether it’s already linked to another account. Repeated bans during linking sound like something to raise with your BSP or Meta support before testing more numbers.

The cause could be the system detecting unusual activity, incomplete verification information, or an unofficial API provider.
