You might check for strict topical relevance, actual organic traffic, natural placement within the main body text, and a clean outbound link profile.

the single query that comes to mind is whether or not i would still need that link from google if it offered no SEO value whatsoever. the answer being yesh means the site has an actual audience nd has the ability to delliver relevant traffic. in such a case i would not really care much about the DA or DR.

Well said. Metrics can provide a quick reference, but relevance, real traffic, and natural placement give much better context about whether a backlink is actually useful.

check if the page actually gets crawled regularly by looking at when Google last indexed it.
