Is blogging still worth starting?

Imo, no it's not worth to start an old school classic blog if your goal is to make money as a blogger out of that blog. Would be nice to hear more opinions.

Blogging can still be worth starting, but it’s probably better to treat it as a long term project rather than expecting quick traffic.

A specific niche, useful content, and multiple ways to monetize the traffic would make more sense than relying only on Google.

sure i would still go ahead with it but without expecting immediate success. in fact i would select a topic nd provide valuable content along with traffic from various sources other than google search engine alone. of course, it takes more time but niche sites have some pottential yet.
 
It might justify the effort to start a new blog if it was designed to pay you on two levels---on one side for a specific niche and buyer keywords/intent monetized by affiliate commissions, while also could work for obtaining quick traffic (monetizable through monthly ad revenue). This way you have interim motivation to keep at it, from pocket money you might earn from the ads, while you build the longer term earnings from the topical authority site you are developing via the niche being covered.
 
Yes, it is still good. But you have to select a good niche.
 
the approach is different now than it was years ago. going tight on a specific niche and building genuine topical depth works the sites dying are the ones trying to compete on broad generic topics against big names.
 
Blogging is still worth it in 2026, but success depends heavily on your niche and content quality. Choosing the right niche, targeting relevant audiences, and creating valuable content are key to long-term growth.
 
It can still work, especially if the blog solves specific problems instead of trying to cover everything.

I could blog just to blog, but luckily I also have a pest control business so I can blog about it. Therefore I educate my customers and potential customers on common problems with pests freely.
 
If you don't want to rely on a single traffic source, it's worth it. You'll have to keep your traffic sources diversified at all times, even when a single source is working out fine for you.

i believe that blog writing is still worthwhile but with a different approach. i will not set unrealistic expectations to get thousands of readers in a matter of months. i will concentrrate on a specific topic nd write about my personal expperience to create some useful content for it. even a small group of people

sure I will proceed, but only in such a niche where intent of the buyer comes into play. depending on traffic from google is like playing with fire.

Nevertheless, I will still go for that in a very narrow niche with buyer intent because relying solely on google is a recipe for disaster.
 
Yes, but I'd pair it with a YouTube or Reddit presence from day one, since blogs with zero audience grow way faster when they're not relying on Google alone.
 
I would still start a blog. Blogging is not dead, but simply publishing lots of articles is not enough anymore. Good topics, useful content and proper SEO can still bring solid traffic.
 
A blog is still worth it for building trust, an audience, and sales over time—especially if you share it on social media and email.
 
Yeah, I’d still start one. I think blogging is far from dead, but the approach has changed. I’d focus on a specific niche, useful content, and building traffic from multiple sources instead of relying only on Google.
