As I only had experience with the data center proxies so far, and now I am trying to move toward something more stable for the long run, I am trying to decide between residential and ISP proxies So, for those of you who had experience with both,

which one was better in your case?.

It depends on your use case. Residential proxies usually have better IP reputation and higher success rates for sensitive tasks, while ISP proxies offer better speed and stability with cleaner IPs than datacenter proxies.

For long-term projects, many users choose residential when IP quality matters most, and ISP when they need a balance between stability and performance.

Residential proxies work well because of their reputation

I have used both and personally I would go with ISP for the long run. They have served me consistently and the speed was satisfactory. Residential proxies may be better option depending on one’s specific needs.

It comes down to your specific use case and budget, as moving away from datacenter proxies will definitely raise your costs. For scale scraping, residential proxies are ideal to bypass bot detection, whereas static ISP proxies shine for long-term, fixed-location tasks.

In practice, most users use both together. They run residential proxies for broad data collection and ISP proxies for stable, ongoing operations.

If one is looking for something reliable for the long run, i would recommend going with ISP. That has been my personal preference so far residential proxies should also be considered depending on one’s Specific needss

i've used both and honestly it depends on what you're doing. for stuff where i need a more consistent connection i usually prefer isp, but residential has worked better for me when the target is more sensitive to the ip type. i wouldn't really pick one just for the long term without testing them on the actual sites first

If you use proxies to manage multiple accounts on a specific platform, it is far better to use proxies from a professional provider; some providers even offer 5–10 free proxies for customers to try out :))

for me luxhost’s ISP and residential proxies been more stable and I prefer ISP i had batter results.

I have recently Changed my ISP provider and I like the changes. i suggest you go with luxhost ISP. That has my personal preferencee,

Depends on the usecase, I use ISPs for everything done with large scale to bypass rate-limiters like mass data scraping. I use residentials and 4Gs for account management.

residential proxies work good because they come from normal consumer networks and have a more typical network reputation.

If the two are similarly priced, I'd recommend going with ISP first. The speed is much better.

static isp all day for account management. rotating resi is fine for scraping but it'll trigger suspicious login on meta fb ads real fast

For long-term projects, it depends on your use case:

ISP proxies offer stronger stability and lower latency
Residential proxies cover more regions, ideal for tasks that need multi-region resources
The two can be used together.

Really depends on what you're doing. ISP gives you stable IP and better speed, residential covers more locations. Most people end up using both, so just test them on your actual task first.

If you are coming from a datacenter, both will feel like an upgrade. ISP is basically datacenter speed with a residential looking IP, and it stays the same for weeks, so it's good if you manage accounts. Residential is a bit slower, and the IP usually rotates, but the pool is way bigger, and it's harder to get a whole subnet banned, so for scraping it holds up better over time. A lot of people end up running both, ISP for accounts, residential for everything else. Disclosure, we're DataImpulse, we don't sell ISP, so I'm a bit biased here
