Google Spam Update - August 2026 Has Arrived

Good update. The August 2026 Spam Update has now finished rolling out globally, so it’s a good time to compare Search Console data before and after the update and look for any ranking or traffic changes.

Can I share links as freely as you do, or is that a privilege reserved for certain members of the forum?
Last time I shared a useful link to a detailed guide, my reply was removed by a forum moderator, and I received a warning for violating the forum rules. But I still don’t understand - are these rules applied selectively?
Because it is an authoritative source like Google under relevant thread as important as an Algo update.

A month after this update rolled out, now the smoke has cleared, has any 'wisdom' emerged?
I had a very nice site slaughtered, and the only links I've built for it this year are decidedly not spammy. Also, I read this on seoroundtable
  • Does Not Target: This update does not target link spam, it does not target every single spam policy but Google did not mention any changes with this update.
So I'm at a loss to figure out this one. The site has been up for 11 years. The content is original and obviously human written. And the foreign editions were actually translated by humans using a premium translation service.

I can guess as well as anyone out there, but has anyone reading this actually had a similar problem and solved it in a particular way that they'd care to share? Thanks in advance, if so.

My site got wrecked too, It seems like all the spam sites got promoted. Google let every spam site take my keywords. I guess the spam update means they let spam win.
