What's working better than expected in SEO right now ?

It has been more successful than anticipated to update old content. By updating content, adding an image, adding more informative content, and fixing internal links, which has increased traffic to pages with search intent.
 
Content pruning surprised me most tbh. Merging weak pages, fixing internal links and updating old winners has moved rankings faster than publishing another 20 AI posts lol.
 
refreshing old content has been wildly underrated this year, faster and cheaper wins than i expected going in
 
i think SEO basics are still giving good results when they are done properly with patience.
 
Topical authority + refreshing old content. Updating existing pages with better internal links and matching search intent is outperforming publishing lots of new posts for many sites.
 
old expired web 2.0s. grabbed a bunch of dead tumblrs and free wordpress blogs with a few links still pointing at them, put fresh content on, pointed them at my buffers. cost nothing and 2 of them out rank pages i paid for
 
honestly topical relevance has been working better than i expected. a few really focused pages around one topic seem to do more than publishing tons of random content.
 
Honestly I’ve been surprised by how well updating existing content, improving internal linking, and targeting very specific long-tail queries and coverting the content in Q/A format can work.
Small improvements to pages that already have some visibility can sometimes outperform publishing lots of new content.

This is exactly what i have been doing. Buffer sites are all the way safe and natural after all its affordable.
 
I have worked a plan recently by mainly focusing on topical relevance links and building them consistently matter more than focusing 5-10 links from high DR and traffic links. Chasing relevance consistently give better result on my campaign than simply chasing raw metrics.

tbh exact match tier 2 link building to high intent parasites have really been hitting way above its weight classes recently, much faster than ranking a brand new domain imo
 
One thing working better than expected in SEO right now is useful, specific content built around real search intent.

@SirTop, so long the focus remains on periodically updating the site with quality content this tactic should work like a charm everytime.

The focus should be about topical relevance and speeding up on strategies that establishes your site as a topical authority.
