Hey everyone,

A company I'm working with want to rank in a city center but they are approx. 20-30 miles away from the city center. They have great reviews(more than ANY competitor in the area) and a great GMB Profile.

If I opened a secondary GMB profile of the same company closer to the city center, what would happen?
I don't know if the reviews are shared or not so thats an important thing.

If this is not possible, what are your suggestions to rank in the city? They really have a great profile and reviews perfect to rank in the city.

If you open a second GMB, the reviews won’t move over they’ll stay with the original. You’re probably better off focusing on local SEO for the current one, like using city-specific keywords and building local backlinks. It can definitely still work with a strong profile like you have!

If you open a second GMB profile, the reviews won’t be shared automatically — each location builds its own set. It could help with ranking closer to the city, but you have to make sure the second location is legit or it might get flagged. You could also try optimizing your existing listing with city-specific keywords and building more local citations.

However, I wouldn’t create the second GBP unless there is an appropriate location since it creates the possibility of suspensions and reviews will not just be transferred.

For the time being, I would pay more attention to building visibility in the targeted city through city-specific landing pages.

no point risking the main profile at all for the sake of a counterfeit GBP tbh. A relevant city landing page nd citations are what’s needed there.

Imo, it is not worth the risk of messing up the primary GBP through location spoofing. If there is no real location in the vicinity, then I will worry more about city pages, citation nd links.

I would not consider making a fictional location for the sole purpose of getting into the city pack, that could lead to issues with verification and suspension. Instead, I’d use a service area page along with legitimate local citations and links.

I will not use a fake place as it is much better to use the right set-up which include pages for your city with the right local links.

They shouldn’t create a fake second location. It can get the GBP suspended. Better to target the city with location pages, local links, and the correct service area setup.

I would not recommend like these, becuase GMB is working certain location(Map) based once user felt not legit its affect whole Brand.
better create seperate and maintain with precise details.
