Communication

The communication from this seller was second to none. He kept me informed throughout the process (And when I say informed, I mean he provided great detail on what was being done). He checked when there were issues or changes that could potentially have an impact to the end-user of the website and he also liased with another member of my team when neccesary for making some server customizations.

Knowledge of speed-optimization

I would like to think that I know a fair amount about speed-optimization and the elements involved in making a website fast. I have used most of the popular optimization plugins out there, I have also carried out manual optimizations myself and I have also carried out a performance optimization with the Google speed team once upon a time when they offered this as a consultation based service.

In addition, I have a very good server set up my one of my team which already included litespeed and some tweaks and optimizations to get things running fairly well; so my setup was already ok but the site in question is quite a large site with woocommerce and lots of plugins + customization hence why it still wasn't running great at the beginning of this review.

@G prooved himeself to be extremely knowledgable in the area of speed-optimization and was able to look over the site in detail, come up with lots of recommendations and also explain everything in great detail in order to clarify what was needed in order to make the site as fast as possible.

As I mentioned above, there are levels to speed optimization and the OP takes it above and beyond in terms of both knowledge and effort in order to get the desired results.

Manual checks

I only hold so much respect for tools such as GTmetrix as they can be manipulated and focusing on them too much is sometimes a pointless task. As such, I also carried out a manual check of the website just to see how well it performs in reality, after the changes. I was very happy to find that it genuinely is extremely fast and responsive following the changes made by the seller. Now every page loads almost instantly and the site is visibly faster.

Summary

Fantastic work from the seller - great communication, extremely knowledgable and results-driven. I would say it is well worth the cost and it is something that will not only improve the user experience of your website but also potentially have a positive impact in terms of SEO. I received a review copy for one of my eCommerce/Woocommerce websites and previously, I have already done many speed optimizations for my websites with G and I am always impressed by the result-driven effort and successful way of working. Also this time, he delivered within 24 hours and I saw an improvement of around 30-35% in the site speed.

From my own experience it is quite a hassle to reduce the loading time, etc. of WordPress sites, especially when having complex sites with hundreds of posts and products. Without any knowledge or skills, it is easy to break the theme, for example. However, G exactly knows what he is doing and whenever I asked him what exactly he did to reduce the loading time, he give me precise answers. Luckily David already described above in detail what OP did, so I don't need to do so.

There are several tools available (Google themselves got one as well) where you can check your site speed. Whenever you see your page is slow or not performing well, you should definitely take action and reduce the speed. This service here is a great choice to do so.

Would I recommend this service? Yes, definitely. Especially because the page speed becomes more and more of a ranking factor.

As another comment in this thread also said, this was not my first website. I'm for sure not an expert when it comes to On-Page optimization, however I know quite a few tricks that go beyond using free/paid tools.
Having said that, my website was already quite fast before trying out this service.

I'm extremely happy with the results. G was able to optimize my website's speed and performance in just under 2 days. He REALLY knows his stuff, more than anyone else I've talked to here before.
Not only did he pay attention to the speed but also made sure that the design/frontend remained unchanged. He also gave me some useful tips for the future and how to avoid certain things that slow the page down.

All in all I highly recommend his services to anyone who needs help optimizing their website's performance.

Pros:

• Excellent communication. @G went above and beyond to make sure that I fully understood what he was doing and kept me up to date throughout the whole thing. Like David, I thought I knew a lot about speed optimization, but @G proved me wrong. His knowledge was second to none, and he provided (and implemented) great recommendations for my site.
• As for the work itself, here’s how it went down (not that I’m using a Plesk-powered server):
  • Image optimization: @G compressed and converted images to webp, resulting in 40-60% smaller image sizes without any visible quality loss. He also applied lazy loading to images not in the viewport and preloaded LCP images to improve Core Web Vitals. Finally, he changed the logo image to inline SVG, which not only improved the image quality but also saved two previous image requests.
  • Font optimization: OP used locally hosted Google fonts, removed unused icons from font files, optimized CSS for penci-icons, and applied font-display options to improve FCP Core Web Vitals.
  • CSS optimization: @G removed unused CSS, added safe selectors and delay options, and asked me to report any FOUC (Flash of Unstyled Content) issues.
  • JS optimization: @G deferred unessential scripts and delayed 3rd party scripts to avoid render-blocking resources.
  • Additional optimization: @G also did the following (and more):

@G his knowledge of web development and web speed optimization is immense before he even began the job he provided a full site audit showing what needed to be done with high levels of detail.

During the job, @G did:

1. Server tuning
   • Enabled NGINX
   • Enabled HTTP/2
   • Enabled Brotli
   • Upgraded to PHP 8.0
   • Tweaked PHP settings
   • Tweaked OPCache settings
2. Added and removed plugins that were needed
