Keep the site active while waiting. do not make a lot of changes just because the approval is taking longer than expected.

Adsense is so crazy that they might have higher requirements for your site now even though it was initially approved.
This is why it's good for companies like these to have human support staff.
You shouldn't have to re-apply, it should have been a support issue.

if the account good history you can try contacting support and explain what happened.otherwise you can apply again but approval process can take some time these days.
