Are original Reels getting better reach now?

In my view, original videos still have better potential to go viral, and Facebook tends to prioritize Reels that feature unique, creative, and high-value content.

I've noticed original reels can perform better especially when they offer something genuinely useful or engaging. Reused content may still get views but adding your own perspective and value seems to make a difference over time

Meta seem to be putting more focus on original content and reducing the reach of copied or lightly edited posts.
Has anyone noticed a real difference on their pages?
Although I am not sure about this. After this post I have come to realize that in my feed I am getting lot more original content rather than copied or lightly edited post. Could be meta is focusing on this fact.

I often post my own original videos and get quite a lot of views. I think you should do the same.

Yes, Meta has explicitly updated its algorithm to prioritize original content over aggregators and re-uploaders. Pages that post original video audio and unique visual cuts get significantly more recommendation reach on the main Reels feed, while copied videos are getting flagged or suppressed much faster

I'm not sure if this works 100%, as there are many unique videos with the same source in my feed.
Absolutely not, since feeds may have more edits from the same source, and this will mean that there must be some other criteria which influence recommendations.

original reels definitely perform better because it is fresh content to the audience...

Reels with any actual effort put in does well for reach even if the editing is quite simple. It seems that meta is becoming more adept at catching the duplicate content.

in my view, the more important development has been that the reels need to provide something more than the original video alone. videos as basic as these also get good reach if they add a perspective, context or an entirely different way of pressenting the same video. reposting the same with cosmetic changes is far less reliable.

It was mch easier for me to does well with those that are more genuine and have been created from what have actually been read rather than simply using a video clip and adding new text to it. sometimes even simple original work can take one by surprise.

Meta's algorithm update definitely penalizes pure unedited re-uploads, but you don't necessarily need high-budget original production to get reach. Adding original voiceovers, meaningful text overlays, or transforming the content into a reaction/review format is usually enough to bypass duplicate detection and keep recommendation reach high.

To maximize distribution on Reels, create unique audio or edit visuals enough to pass hash checks, keep watch time high in the first 3 second.

Reused content may still attract some views, but creating something with your own ideas and perspective is usually more sustainable in the long run.
