How Do You Evaluate a Backlink’s Value

In my opinion, to evaluate a good backlink, I look at the quality of the website and the strength of the specific page where the link is placed.
 
Traffic, relevance, and the actual page quality.

DR alone means almost nothing if the link sits on a dead page with no organic visibility.
 
I normally check the page's ranking and traffic first. If the page getting good traffic the backlink can be a good investment.

I usually look at relevance first, then the site’s real organic traffic, content quality, and how many outbound links it has. I also check whether the page is indexed and whether the link fits naturally in the content.

DR/DA is useful as a quick filter, but I wouldn’t pay based on that metric alone. The overall quality and relevance of the placement matter more.
 
Organic traffic trend is the number one signal. Third-party metrics like DR or DA can easily be manipulated with spam links, but sustained organic search traffic in Ahrefs or Semrush proves Google actually trusts the domain. Niche relevance and where the link is placed on the page come second.
 
For me, relevance and real traffic matter more than DR alone. I check if the site has genuine content, relevant audience, natural outbound links and whether the backlink can actually bring referral traffic too.
 
I judge a backlink by relevance, site authority, real organic traffic and whether it can bring qualified visitors-not just by domain metrics. If the link looks natural and has genuine SEO or referral value, it's usually worth the cost.

I check for organic traffic flow, site authority, and indexing. If non of this actively performing, the backlink is not worth it

As of me, judge link by site’s organic footprint, referring-domain quality, placement, indexing history, and outbound-link patterns. DA or DR help as benchmark, but it wouldn’t use them to justify price alone. So the real question is whether link pass meaningful value beyond just being another backlink.
 
the biggest signal is relevance + real traffic not just DR. I’d check whether the site actually gets organic traffic and whether that traffic is relevant to my niche.
 
if a guest post you are getting is high authority and has good traffic then it is usefull but you must also keep in mind that it must relevent to your niche and website

Right. DR alone can be quite misleading. Traffic sources, top pages, and whether or not the referring website has actual users in the niche should be considered as well.

For me, it consistently comes down to genuine organic traffic and strict relevance. Domain metrics are increasingly easy to manipulate, yet a steady stream of authentic visitors cannot be replicated.
