Hi everyone
I just started on Fiverr and I’m still new to the platform.

I’ve created my gig, optimized the title and description, but I’m struggling to get my first client. I know the beginning is always the hardest part

I’d really appreciate advice from experienced sellers:

What helped you get your first order?

Should I focus more on pricing, keywords, or buyer requests?

Any beginner mistakes I should avoid?

Any tips, strategies, or lessons from your early days would really help
Thanks a lot for your time and suppor

Hello to be honest with you I'm trying to grow my business profile on fiverr but in 2026 its not the same. I'm on fiverr since 2021 and i grow my personal account very easy back then with path of exile services, videogames type services but one thig is for sure, first order is the most important. The second most important is to get lv 1 and buy ads that helps a billion times more than you think because you cut the 96% of competitors. My advice is to force 5 orders, then wait for organic traffic untill you are eligible for lv 1 then spend 10$ to make 20-25 on ads untill you start getting real customers from organic traffic and search. Other than that nothing really to do.

Start with low price to get first few reviews. Buyer requests still work if you reply fast.

Dont expect traffic without orders at start.

Getting the first order is mostly about trust. In the beginning I’d keep the pricing competitive, make the gig look very clear, and focus on one specific service instead of trying to offer everything.

Starting on Fiverr can be slow at first, so you’re on the right track being patient.
For your first order, focus on:
  • Competitive pricing (slightly lower to build trust)
  • Buyer requests (very important in the beginning)
  • Clear, benefit-focused gig description
What helped me early on was sending personalized proposals and responding quickly to buyers.
Also, avoid common mistakes like:
  • Overpromising results
  • Using generic descriptions
  • Ignoring profile optimization
Consistency is key—once you get your first few reviews, things start improving.

Your first order on Fiverr usually comes when you optimize the right keywords, set competitive pricing at the beginning, proactively send high-quality proposals, and build credibility (reviews and portfolio) from small jobs.

Study top sellers and niche down. If they offer "backlinks," you should offer "******** profile links." Be more specific to stand out.The start is always hard. Good luck!

buy your own order a couple times and get some reviews. (ie - get real people to "buy" your item and get them to write reviews. price it low so you arent spending too much. dont make it too bait. actually "deliver" a product.

your first job will be hard to get because you are new and your profile is not exposed to been seen by buyers.

Create a Professional Profile
Okay, first things first – you need a professional profile. It's basically your storefront, right? Use actual photos of yourself instead of logos. Like, a decent headshot where you look approachable. Then write a bio that actually explains what you can do and why anyone should care. Get verified too – that little checkmark matters. Wait, why does this matter? Because clients see this first! This is where you show off your skills and experience without sounding like a robot resume.

Focus on Specific Services
Here's a common mistake newbies make – listing every skill under the sun. Don't. Pick a few things you're genuinely good at. The competition's crazy out there, so... how do you stand out? Specializing helps. Let me explain why – clients searching for "logo design" would rather hire someone who only does logos than someone who also fixes plumbing, you know?

Write Buyer-Centric Gig Descriptions
When writing gig descriptions, clarity is key. But what's actually important here? Talk about what buyers get, not how excited you are to work. Like, spell out exactly what you'll deliver, how fast, and why you're the best pick. Oh, and skip the fluff – "I love graphic design!" doesn't tell them anything. Instead, answer: What problem are you solving for them?

Use Fiverr SEO Tactics
Think of Fiverr like Google – people search for stuff. So stuff your gig title and description with relevant keywords. Use all the character space they give you. Tags too. Wait, but don't keyword-stuff like a spammer. Just... sprinkle terms people might actually search for. "Social media graphics designer" beats just "graphics designer," right?

Price Competitively (At First)
When starting out, undercut the competition. Harsh truth – nobody cares about your portfolio if you've got zero reviews. Charge less to get those first 5-star ratings. This part's tricky though. Once you’ve got momentum? Raise prices gradually. But how low is too low? Don't devalue your work – just enough to get noticed.

Assalam o Alaikum Maryam,

The same issue happened to me in legiit and my profile only appear to me and legiit said that to want the reviews & do payment to look your service in pages...

if you will guide me what can i do i will be very thankful to you.

your first job will be hard to get because you are new and your profile is not exposed to been seen by buyers.
yes this issue happen in legiit also and want to review your service and do payment to the legiit platform. If i have a clients what the need to me to say the client first go my proflle on my legiit profile and send order.

First order on Fiverr is the hardest because you have zero reviews and buyers filter by rating. The fastest way to break through - price yourself lower than you're worth for the first 3-5 orders, get those reviews, then raise prices. A lot of new sellers resist this and wait months for orders that never come.
Buyer requests section is underused and actually works. Check it daily and respond fast with a personalized message, not a copy paste. Most responses buyers get are generic so a real human response stands out immediately.
Gig image matters more than most people think. If your thumbnail looks amateur compared to others in the same category you're invisible regardless of how good your description is.
The biggest mistake new sellers make - too many gigs at once. Focus on one gig, make it perfect, get reviews on it, then expand. Spreading across 5 gigs with no reviews on any of them is worse than one gig with 10 reviews.

Getting first order seems to be completely impossible. optimizing title of gigs and descriptions will not help you.

Sure, with your current level, your gig will not show up on fiverr search result. They've introduce a system whereby only the buyers can send contact to the providers. No more application to job or services by providers

The only way around this, is to get 2 or 3 random people who are willing to buy atleast 3- 5 gig (total) in order to boost your profile.

Thanks

First gig bread be the hardest to cop. You gotta hit them buyer requests like a hawk tryna snatch somethin', that's where the real plays at for new cats

i would approach the first couple of weeks as a test rather than just waiting for the instructions. test out a couple of tiitles nd check which one gets more clicks. always work on improving ur offer nd make sure that the buyer can understand what he will get. once u start getting clicks nd reviews, everything gets easier.

first order is the hardest part for every frelancer in fiverr. focus more clear offer and low price. keep gig simple use keywords naturally and avoid changing everything every few days because it takes some time to see what works
