Hello Friends, since August 1, my sites have been all over the place. Some pages went up, some dropped hard. No real pattern I can see different niches, different site ages, no consistency. Stuff I already checked: no manual action in Search Console, I haven't touched anything technical or on-page, Core Web Vitals are fine, and my backlinks haven't really changed.

Here's what I know for sure so we're not just guessing: Google did roll out a spam update on August 18, and it ran until the 21st. But there was also a bug in Search Console that hid some impression data between August 13–17, so some of what looks like a drop might just be broken reporting, not a real loss. And before all that, there was weird movement between August 1–6 that a bunch of rank trackers picked up, but Google's own status page showed nothing happened. So this month might actually be 2-3 different things hitting at once, not one single update.

Anyone else seeing this? What niche are you in, up or down, and what date did you notice it? Also curious. If your drop lines up with the Aug 18 update specifically, did messing with your backlinks (adding or removing) actually help, or did you fix it some other way?

Trying to figure out what's a real hit vs just a reporting glitch vs normal noise. Thanks!

I understand your pain... This is my website that was stable for 8 months... Just tried to connect it to AdSense... And for some reason at the exact time that I was waiting for AdSense approval this happened.
Coincidence?

this is actually bad, i guess you have a lot of work to do to get the site back up
I just gave up on that website, went into another business, not gonna fight with google anymore, I just don't see any logics in what they are doing last 6 years. First they destroyed ads and made them impossible for soloprenors without fundings, now they do the same with SEO. I have few more projects that still work, but won't move a finger anymore :D

What is Google exactly changing?

Are you quitting blogging or seo?

Just fighting with google or microsoft ads can be really frustrating.. it's like however hard you've tried and no benefits or even clicks are arriving. However I'm still trying to make it work for us, though. Lately we've been rewriting product pages and putting together tutorials around questions customers actually send us.

What's your exact criteria for changes?

Is happening to more peoples is something that happen when the google update in my experience but it usually get back if are not other issues like message in Google console

Same here mate. One day the domain is ranked on 2nd page, next day you won't even find it on any page. Its so frustrating.
Yes, it’s really frustrating. One of my domains was getting over 4,000 visits, but after a few days, the site suddenly disappeared. Now, I’m only getting around 150 visits.

Console showing no problem at all. Just a sudden drop.

I don't do anything. Just wait and let google do its thing. I think the issue i found was, i had maybe updated favicon and maybe bought cheap backlinks in start. Don't do that. Buy quality backlinks. Don't cheap out on that.

Should we continue to post blogs?

The traffic of my website fluctuates. Let's check the website content to see if there's anything wrong (such as having many similar titles, etc.). If the backlinks haven't been maliciously spammed, keep updating regularly and wait for the results.
