Hello Friends, since August 1, my sites have been all over the place. Some pages went up, some dropped hard. No real pattern I can see different niches, different site ages, no consistency. Stuff I already checked: no manual action in Search Console, I haven't touched anything technical or on-page, Core Web Vitals are fine, and my backlinks haven't really changed.
Here's what I know for sure so we're not just guessing: Google did roll out a spam update on August 18, and it ran until the 21st. But there was also a bug in Search Console that hid some impression data between August 13–17, so some of what looks like a drop might just be broken reporting, not a real loss. And before all that, there was weird movement between August 1–6 that a bunch of rank trackers picked up, but Google's own status page showed nothing happened. So this month might actually be 2-3 different things hitting at once, not one single update.
Anyone else seeing this? What niche are you in, up or down, and what date did you notice it? Also curious. If your drop lines up with the Aug 18 update specifically, did messing with your backlinks (adding or removing) actually help, or did you fix it some other way?
Trying to figure out what's a real hit vs just a reporting glitch vs normal noise. Thanks!
