Is 100% AI content still surviving the 2026 Google updates?

Hey BHW,

After the recent Google updates, I am seeing mixed results with AI content. It seems like pure, unedited AI content (like direct ChatGPT copy-paste) is getting de-indexed or penalized much faster now.

What is your experience right now? Are you guys still ranking with raw AI content, or has human-editing become 100% mandatory to survive in 2026? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Exactly! It has been pretty brutal lately. How are you adapting to this shift? Are you completely moving away from AI for your money sites, or just focusing more on heavy human editing and adding real value to the drafts?
 
I haven't seen much difference in terms of traffic on my website. But again its just been 2months, so can't be sure how it impacts in the long run
 
Without modification it usually reads like AI and is easy to spot.

But you can have another worker change that and first one finished writing.
 
Google now prioritizes information gain and original data over simple word count. Pure AI content often lacks the unique insights needed to rank long-term in 2026. You need at least some human editing to add real-world experience and avoid being flagged as unhelpful. :cool:

It may still exist, but only in small numbers most will likely be affected in terms of rankings.

Google has made AI content useless. Thks is because everyone was just spamming with it.
 
If it reads like the same thing that's everywhere, it just doesnt stick anymore. some pages drop even without penalties, just quietly deindexed. Raw AI copy paste is getting slapped pretty quick now. These days I at least mess with it a bit before posting. switch things up, add something real, break the pattern.

ai powered pages have succeeded in many cases but the pages which seem to be published directly out of the prompt seem to be eassier to identify as low quality. for me, the important thing is not the fact of being edited by a human.the important thing is to add value which could not be added by any ten other pages.

From what you said, it seems AI content once worked in the past. Unfortunately, I never got a piece of AI content ranked since 2023. I once pasted an AI generated article on my site because I thought it was too good to need further modification manually. Guess what, my whole website was penalized. Most articles were de-indexed and traffic decreased to near 0. Terrible!

as far as my experience with SEO goes, I m rather a beginner, but judging by what i see, pure ai content is not something one should use anymore. i think that adding your own voice, examples, and facts will make ur work more valuablle.
to all of those ranking on ai created content in 2026, how many edits do u really make before publishing?
 
without any kind of editing it can often sound like obvious ai content and people can spot it pretty easily.having someone else review and improve the first draft after it finished can help make the final content sound more natural.
 
I think the real issue is not AI itself but content that adds nothing new. AI can still be useful but publishing raw copy-paste content without adding original value is becoming much riskier.
 
Your observation is directionally right, but human editing itself isn’t a ranking requirement. Google’s current guidance targets low-value, unoriginal/scaled content—not whether AI was used; the winning approach is AI-assisted content with genuine expertise, originality, first-hand value, and strong editing.
 
i dont think raw ai content good long term plan now.it can still rank sometimes but just copying and posting the output usually gives weak content with no real value.editing it and adding your own experience useful info makes much bigger difference

however, raw AI may be still functional in some cases, but imo, the age of copy nd paste nd ranking is over. Imo the difference between your writing nd AI writing come from your insight.
 
I think AI content can still rank because the real question is no longer “AI or human,” but whether the content actually provides value. Pure chatgpt content often just repackages existing information without adding any new insights, so it’s not ideal to use it as-is for content creation.
 
I ordered AI content from someone in bhw but in the latest google updates I got destroyed
