Hello

Noticing that a lot of Instagram accounts growing their follower numbers quickly but the engagement does not always match the growth.

A high follower count might look impressive but if those followers are inactive or not the right audience then it can hurt reach and make it harder to build a real community.

For those who have tested different growth methods then what was your experience? Did buying or boosting followers actually help with long term growth or did it create more problems later? Is slow, targeted growth still the better approach for building a valuable Instagram account?

the count was never the asset. the algo doesnt read your follower number, it reads what your audience DOES with a post. bought followers do nothing, so it learns "people like this dont engage" and quietly stops serving you to the real ones who would. you end up poisoning your own lookalike. i'd take 800 who reply over 80k ghosts any day. how are you measuring the real audience, by dms/replies, or still off the follower count?

First of all when you buy followers, you buy bot followers. Secondly bot followers don't engage with your content and they hurt your engagement afterwards. Therefore you should always try to grow organically.
 
Acquired/bought followers always affect the long-term success as it reduces the engaement rate and the algorithm will no longer promote your content.
The slow and target-oriented growth will work as real enggement from the proper target audience will increase your reach
 
Yeah, slow and targeted growth usually works better. Big follower numbers look good, but if those followers don't engage, they don't really help. I'd rather have 5k active followers than 50k followers who never interact.
 
Fake accounts (bots or clones) will not like, comment, or share content. A drop in engagement will signal to the Instagram algorithm that your content is uninteresting, thus reducing its visibility in the Explore section or on the Home page.
 
Instagram evaluates content based on the ratio of engagement (likes, saves, shares) to the total number of followers. Fake followers never interact, making your account seem "low-quality" and preventing it from being displayed in the Explore tab.
 
You can't fake growing an IG account. It's a mixture of luck, timing and vision. Buying some followers can help in the initial stage when you might be ignored simply because of the lack of followers, but if organic growth doesn't pick up, your fae followers and fake engagement will do nothing for you. In fact, they might completely sink your account
 
only reason to bot if for social proof, not growth or engagement

Buying followers can put your account at risk of being shadowbanned or disabled by Instagram. Any followers that you purchase are going to be ghost followers which means they will provide zero engagement. It all depends on what your end goal is. If you just want a high follower count or do you actually want followers who engage? If you want followers who engage then you need targeted growth.
 
I’ve seen accounts tank after buying followers—the algorithm notices the dead weight and kills your reach. Organic growth is slower but way more sustainable, and real engagement actually converts. So yeah, skip the bots, focus on content that resonates.
 
i dont understand the need to buy followers on instagram unless you are trying to join an affiliate program, if you use the account for marketing a product, the best strategy id to work on quality content
 
It works well for those who are planning to sell their accounts, Many people only sees the followers count and they decide they gonna get that account,

IMO You should never buy followers as a method to grow your account. There are many methods to grow your account but personally I wouldn't entertain any that do not utilize the native Instagram app only. Automation done correctly and in moderation can help.
 
buying followers is probably not the most recommended way for most use cases. initially a decent follower count can help build cred but real use comes from Click through rates and engagement. so instead of investing in buying followers I would invest in automation actions like sending likes and follows to your target audiance to enhance your reach.

Buying followers is definitely not good for long term growth, it can even kill the natural account growth. I'm just saying with my experience.
 
Its useless, I have seen accounts with millions of followers having just 1-2k Likes max at their posts, Doesnt make any sense. Slow, Organic and Targeted Growth is the way to go and always will be.
 
Yeah, you're right. Content engagement reveals your followers are fake.

Some people buy followers to boost the impression of their page while they grow it.

I used to do it back in the days when some websites require you have a particular number of followers to join a program.
