Is it worth renting an apartment in another country to set up your own residential proxy?

Think it can make sense if you actually need a stable IP in that country and can cover the extra costs. But you also need to check the apartment’s internet terms and local rules, since some connections may not allow this kind of use. For a small setup, the rent and internet costs could easily make it more expensive than other options.
but no, the costs are not excessive, on the contrary... I tell you that there are quite easy solutions that allow you to have everything

The biggest issue isn’t really the IP it’s whether the poker site s terms allow remote access from abroad. A legitimate Italian connection may not solve things if your actual location or residency doesn’t meet their rules

Apartments have their own internet terms? lol, I find it very strange for a internet company not allowing you to set up a proxy server in your computer.

Of course they don´t allow it haha that´s why I´m masking my location by using a proxy :)

It may make sense if you specifically need an IP from that country, but renting an apartment just for this can be expensive and complicated. You'd also need to consider the internet provider's terms, connection reliability, and the security of running equipment yourself. For most situations, there are simpler options than setting everything up on your own.

You’re right that renting an apartment for this purpose could be overkill, but in this case I think it’s worth the cost considering what we would get out of it. I would also rent it with a friend, so we would each pay around €150–200 per month including rent and bills.

We would have a genuine residential internet connection and real residential verification documents.

As for the equipment, it would mainly be:

  • a computer running as a proxy server
  • a smart switch in case we need to perform a hard reset remotely
  • a system to remotely turn the computer on or reboot it if it goes down
  • a UPS to protect against possible power outages
  • maybe another small computer to monitor the main one
The apartment would be located in a small city in Italy, but not in a remote village, so the internet connection should be very reliable. And even if there are occasional outages, the connection should eventually come back. Keep in mind that I currently use a residential internet connection and a residential proxy to play poker, so this setup shouldn’t be any worse than what I’m doing now lol.

Anyway, I’m open to suggestions. What do you think could potentially go wrong with this setup?

They don't have access to personal things, but only to common things... so you can rest 100% calm
But that’s another variable that you can’t control. I’d rather pay more and have everything 100% under my control.

The worst thing that could happen would be some intruder trying to take over the apartment lol.

If you knew someone trustworthy in Italy, another possibility would be to have them host and manage the equipment at their place.
