I'm playing on an online poker site that is currently very profitable for me, but it only operates within Italy. I've been using this account for the past two years while connecting to it from abroad through a static residential or ISP proxy (I use IPRoyal), and I haven't had any problems so far.
I´ve checked the ISP proxy in many proxy checker sites and it looks residential with 0% fraud score... ISP provider looks legit and so on, but of course it´s not 100% safe.
However, if my account were ever reviewed, there is a risk that they could consider the IP suspicious and close my account, which is something I really can't afford and it´s eating my mind.
Also, an account review could involve having to submit new verification documents, such as a utility bill in your name. I know they scrutinize the documents you send very carefully to make sure they aren't fake, and I don't have those kinds of documents because I don't live in Italy.
So I've come to the conclusion that, in order to secure my poker account long-term, I either need to move to Italy (which I'm not going to do — I like living close to my friends and family) or somehow make my connection 100% legitimate and also have proper verification documents available in case they ask for them.
I was thinking about renting an apartment in Italy together with another poker player in a cheap city and leaving a router and a computer there to act as a proxy server, connecting to it remotely from abroad.
There are apartments available from 400-500$ with good fiber and even in good locations in smaller cities lol.
In the event of a power outage, I would need to figure out a way to remotely turn the computer acting as the proxy back on. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to solve that.
What other things should I take into account?
Is my idea viable? I would have a 100% static residential connection and would also have verification documents available in case they asked for them.
On the other hand, I would also need to make sure that the poker application always connects through this proxy and can never connect directly and reveal my real IP. I've already had that part fairly well sorted out for years.
What do you guys think about the idea? Is it viable? Am I missing anything?
Thanks!
